Jarvis Estate 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Description: The 2004 vintage growing season was close to a perfect at Jarvis Estate. The season started with average rainfall during spring and winter months. This meant good soil moisture and a sound start to the season. A warm autumn quickly ripened the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, resulting in intense colour, flavour and aromas. The lovely aromas and soft tannins are as a result of the great growing conditions. This wine spent 20 months maturing in a combination of new and old French oak barrels which has added to the character of this wine, with flavours reminiscent of ripe blackcurrant, cherry and liquorice. As expected from a good Cabernet this wine has earthy overtones and a fine tannin finish making this a wine suitable to enjoy now or cellar for up to 10 years.... Jarvis Estate 2005 Cabernet Franc Description: The 2005 growing season provided excellent growing conditions for our Cabernet Franc. We began with a nice cold and wet winter which set the vines perfectly. This was followed by a dry, windy spring season which kept the berry size small and the flavours intense. Summer was warm, mild and but without any significant rainfall until after harvest. A warm autumn quickly ripened the Single Estate grown Cabernet Franc, resulting in lovely aromas and soft tannins. and varietal character. Rich ruby in colour this wine has lifted raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry and floral notes on the nose as well as a slight savouriness and lifted oak. As the wine opens up it develops more complex aromas of eucalyptus and liquorice. The palate is soft and rounded with integrated oak, cherries, blood plum and raspberry flavours providing a long and persistent finish. Jarvis Estate 2005 Chardonnay Description: The 2005 growing season began with a nice cold and wet winter which set the vines perfectly. This was followed by a dry, windy spring season which kept the berry size small and the flavours intense. Summer was warm, mild and but without any significant rainfall until after this Chardonnay was harvested. Some of the Chardonnay was fermented in French oak barrels and left on lees for 5 months to help flesh out the palate. The balance was cold fermented in stainless steel to allow the natural fruit flavours to dominate. The result is a superb Chardonnay with lovely peach and melon aromatics and wonderful texture....
