Galli Estate `il Acquario` Description: The Galli Estate Il Acquario is the first release under the new Riserva label. Once youve tried it, youll be hooked, and looking forward to this estates latest creation. This wine is an unusual blend of Shiraz, Granache and Viognier. The Shiraz adds a warm spiciness to the wine. This is enhanced by the earthy-sweet Grenache and finally the lifted floral Viognier helps to create a special out of the ordinary treat. It is a brooding, powerful wine, which lends itself to being sipped slowly next to the fire, especially if youre sharing it with someone special. Galli Estate Chardonnay Description: Pale lemon - gold in colour, this wine has aromas of nectarine, lemon and lime zest, and a hint of nuttiness. In the mouth it is full of minerally nectarine, lemon, and hints of grilled cashew and oat bran. All of this is perfectly balanced by the spicy vanilla of high quality French oak. It has a creamy texture, and a crisp finish, making it a good example of elegant restrained Chardonnay, very much in the Chablis mould. Picked from 18-25 February (our earliest harvest ever); 5 separate picks from different areas of the 2 blocks of Chardonnay ranging in ripeness from 11.9-12.6 Baum. All batches were destemmed, crushed, and immediately pressed without further skin contact. Free-run juice only was then settled for 48 hours, and clear juice with a small amount of grape solids was taken to ferment. After starting the fermentation in stainless steel, it was transferred to French Vosges oak barriques to complete fermentation. After ferment, a portion of the barrels were stirred twice weekly, and all barrels had SO2 added in May. About 20% of the blend was then returned to stainless steel tanks in July; the balance remaining in oak until final blending in October.... Galli Estate Sangiovese Description: Garnet red in colour, this wine is full of lifted dark cherry and spice on the nose. The palate continues in the same vein, with cherry compote, warm spices, and a touch of smokiness. The grippy tannins balance the wine nicely and make it a suitable partner for many richer meat dishes. It is a supple, silky wine that is dense, savoury, and very refined. Picked in two lots from our Heathcote vineyard; the first at 11.6 Baum on the 26th February, and the second on 14th March at 13.8 Baum. Both were crushed and fermented in oak and stainless steel open vats. Matured in French oak barriques for 10 months. A portion was returned to stainless steel after only three months` maturation in oak to retain freshness. Blended in January 2009.... Galli Estate Sunbury Shiraz Description: Now this is a wine to lose in your cellar for the next 5 years. The Galli Estate Sunbury Shiraz will be flavour full right now but will appreciate with age. As you take your first long awaited sip, youll be rewarded with a minerally blackberry fruit flavour typical of the Sunbury region.
